Since 2000, Dr Mehta has been involved in drug discovery and development companies with a focus on the business side of licensing technologies, company formation, structuring financing, and striking partnerships with large multinationals. Dr. Mehta is a serial entrepreneur and business development expert, leading >$350 million in licensing deals over 20+ years. Dr. Mehta co-founded Pulmokine, where he guided drugs through proof-of-concept, manufacturing, and scale-up, ultimately out-licensing them for the orphan disease Pulmonary arterial hypertension, now in Phase III clinical trials. Currently, he is an Entrepreneur in Residence at Columbia Tech Ventures, an advisor to the Government of India’s Department of Biotechnology, and a mentor at Stanford University StartX and IndieBio NY. He has helped raise >$20 million and formed corporate partnerships. He also was Vice President, Global Business Development at Cytopia (ASX:CYT, acquired), a Clinical Associate Professor of Biotechnology Management at Rensselaer Polytechnical Institute, and an Assistant Professor at UT Southwestern. Dr. Mehta received his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from UT Southwestern and his MBA from Rensselaer. A prolific author, Dr. Mehta has contributed numerous books and publications on Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer, Management, Strategy, and Policy in addition to peer-reviewed research articles.
