Nick Hughes, PhD
Co-founder/CEO,
Acrobat Genomics
United States
Dr. Nick Hughes co-founded Acrobat Genomics with a mission to develop novel gene editing tools that can push the boundaries of programmable genetic medicine. Acrobat Genomics is harnessing advancements in computational methods, synthetic biology, and next-generation sequencing to create a state-of-the-art engine to solve major challenges in the field that include in vivo delivery, editing efficiency, and editing precision.
Nick earned his BA from Middlebury College in Molecular Biology and Physics and his PhD in Genetics from Stanford University School of Medicine with gene editing pioneer, Prof. Le Cong, and cancer biologist, Prof. Monte Winslow. Prior to his PhD, he co-developed and applied early gene editing screening technologies as a researcher at UCSF and the Broad Institute. In addition to his academic work, he has venture capital experience at Longitude Capital where he worked as a Research Fellow focusing on evaluating emerging genomic technologies.
