Dr. Parashurama is a MIT, Harvard Med, Stanford, and UCSF trained MD PhD, Assistant Professor at Univ. of Buffalo (St. U of NY), former surgeon with 20 years of experience in stem cell research and 33 publications. His laboratory carriers out his vision whic is to merge regenerative medicine and molecular imaging , using organogenesis principles, to bio-manufacture human stem cell-derived liver (metabolic center) tissues in vitro or in vivo, and to develop the next generation of diagnostics and therapeutics for hepatic diseases. Areas of research include Synthetic biology, Organogenesis, Gene regulatory networks, Organoid and Tissue engineering, Disease modeling, and Therapy, Computational biology, and Imaging. He currently focused on building the company full time. He was partner in an SF startup accelarator (Life sciences), and founder of an seed stage investment firm, trained in Stanford Biodesign program, UCSF entrepreneurship program, and NSF-I corps program, and has performed pre-clinical large animal studies, and clinical trial design. He founded Khufu Therapeutics 2 years ago with the intention of translating his work into patients with liver disease. The founding paper of the company demonstrates the most transcriptionally mature cells in the field and the first demonstration of exponential liver tissue growth in patients.
