Handol has 20+ years experience in software, cloud, and AI/machine learning. He co-founded Variational AI in 2019, a venture-backed generative AI platform for drug discovery, specializing in developing novel and selective small molecule therapeutics for solid tumor indications. Variational AI has a number of undisclosed collaborations with leading pharma and biotechs. Prior to co-founding Variational AI, Handol ran the Quadrant AI business unit of quantum computing pioneer D-Wave Systems, specializing in probabilistic and generative machine learning with health customers such as Siemens-Healthineers, Konica-Minolta, and others.
